Find the Best Keywords for Your Niche
Keyword Research is The Foundation of Your Site
Finding the best keywords for your site is the key to the success of having a huge amount of traffic and at the same time giving you a steady flow of income stream from different monetizing options available for your sites such as Google Adsense, Amazon Affiliates, Clickbank, and many more.
If you are planning to monetize your website seriously, you need to focus on this particular topic as you will not succeed in the internet marketing industry as well and you will not earn a decent amount of money if you have selected the wrong keywords beforehand.
What is Keyword Research?
Keyword Research is a term generally used in SEO or Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of finding the best possible keywords or keyphrases that you will use to target traffic going to your website.
For example, if you have a website about 3D printing, then obviously you might want to target keywords such as 3D printing machines, 3D printers 2015, Best 3D printers, 3D printer cost, and so on.
Sounds easy, right? but to tell you honestly finding the best keywords that can bring traffic to your site is quite hard as you need to handpick keywords that are within your reach, meaning it has low SEO competition.
Having low competition in terms of SEO literally means that there are only a few hundreds or thousands of people competing for that particular term, and you can analyze these things using different metrics. Once you have learned how to analyze SEO competition it will be easy for you to decide whether a keyword is doable or not.
Common Mistakes in Keyword Research
The common mistakes I’ve made in the past are the following:
Targeted competitive keywords or general terms that have a huge monthly search volume and high SEO competition. Actually, this is a common mistake that most SEO newbies will definitely make, as we are too excited to optimize our website after seeing the huge amount of traffic a keyword can give such as 40, 000 local monthly searches. In the end, I wasn’t able to reach the front page of Google for those particular terms and ended up on the 10th page after trying different SEO techniques.
Wrote articles without using relevant key phrases, supporting keywords, and LSI keywords (Latent Semantic Indexing). I’ve just focused on writing articles that I think people are searching for, but as I go through with my article I also forgot the importance of spreading relevant keywords affecting my On-Page SEO.
Targeted Keywords that are impossible to achieve page 1 results include e-commerce related keywords, keywords related to education, medical, government as you will not be able to outrank websites that are the authority on this topic, sites like .edu, .gov, .org, and medical-related journals online. So if you are planning to compete with those on the front page of Google, please do not as you will just waste a lot of time and you will not reach the front page of Google if those websites are there.
